Home Buying Class Being Offered In Partnership With The Town of Newfane
Unlocking Homeownership
Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll ever make, and it’s normal to feel a little overwhelmed. How much house can you afford? What credit score do you need? What on earth is escrow? At Ontario Shores FCU, we’ve been helping members reach their goals since 1961, and we want you to feel confident every step of the way.
That’s why we’re hosting a homebuying class designed to walk you through the process from start to finish.

What You’ll Learn
Understanding your mortgage options. Fixed or adjustable? 15 years or 30? We’ll break down the different loan types in plain language so you can choose what fits your budget and your plans.
Knowing what you can afford. Learn how lenders look at your income, debts, and savings, and how to set a comfortable monthly payment, not just the maximum you could be approved for.
Navigating the process. From pre-approval and house hunting to inspections, appraisals, and closing day, we’ll explain what happens and when, so there are no surprises.
Your questions answered. Our mortgage specialist and lending team will be on hand to answer your questions in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.
Why Take a Homebuying Class?
Buyers who prepare ahead of time tend to feel more confident, avoid costly mistakes, and are better positioned when the right home comes along. You’ll leave with a clear roadmap, a checklist of next steps, and a better sense of what to expect.
As a member-owned credit union, our goal isn’t to rush you into a loan. It’s to help you make the choice that’s right for you. Whether you’re ready to buy or are just starting to dream, this class is a great place to begin.
